WebKit is a layout
engine designed to allow web browsers to render
web pages. WebKit powers Google Chrome and Safari
and implements the HTML5 and CSS3 specifications,
using JavaScript for programming.
Mobile phones such as
iPhone and Android have browsers
capable of rendering HTML5/CSS and even implement device
specific extensions and APIs for controlling the device's
hardware using HTML and JavaScript.
Thus, with WebKit technology
it is possible render native-looking
applications using HTML5/CSS3 and perform almost as if they were
written in Java or Objective C.

However, you still need a
way to market your web applications to Market
Places and App Stores. The technology that makes
this possible is called
PhoneGap. PhoneGap is a set of Frameworks
that wrap your HTML5, CSS3 and JavaScript code
inside a native binary shell which is then compiled
into a monolithic application package.
mobileFX Studio 7 is fully
integrated with PhoneGap Build Service,
meaning that you can design your applications
in Studio 7, test and debug them on your PC using
your favorite WebKit browser, and then submit
them to PhoneGap build service from within mobileFX
Studio 7 IDE with a single click!
