The following instructions are common, both when using our Excel SMS Add-in or when uploading your Excel files to our on-line service. In both cases, the service is credit-based, which means that before you use it you must pre-purchase SMS Packages from our web site. The layout format of the Excel Worksheet is very important for successfully processing it and reading SMS information from it. The first Row of the Worksheet is ignored. Even though you could safely keep it blank if using the Excel Add-in, when uploading the Excel file to our on-line service the first row (R1) should contain the Column Names for the first two columns A1 and A2. The First Column (A) must contain the International Mobile Telephone Number of the Recipients. The format of the international number starts with the plus sign followed by the International Country Code and then the subscriber number (mobile number). For a complete list of International Codes click here. The Second Column (B) must contain the SMS Message Text. A typical SMS messages may contain up to 160 English GSM Characters or up to 70 Unicode characters. Currently languages with special Alphabet symbols, such as Greek, are treated as Unicode, limiting you to 70 characters per message. However, we are planning on changing this real soon. Most importantly, the first two columns of your Worksheet must be in Text format. To do so, select the two columns as illustrated by the first image and right-click on their area to display the Popup menu and then click on the Format Cells... menu item to display the Format Cells dialog window. In the Category list, click on the Text entry and then click the OK button. You should not send more than 1000 messages at a time. The Excel approach was not designed for large bulk SMS volumes; if you need to send more than 1000 messages you must partition your job in smaller chunks, each of 1000 message tops, or use any of our Professional solutions on SMS messaging.
