What is BlueGate?

mobileFX BlueGate is a Server Software for designing Bluetooth Proximity Marketing Campaigns, deploying those campaigns on Networks of Bluegiga Access Servers and Access Points, Monitoring Proximity Marketing Networks and collecting Campaign Statistics.

The software runs on x86 and x64 bit Windows XP/2000/2003/Vista/2008 Server/Windows7 and it uses Parallel Network Threads in order to manage multiple Bluetooth Hotspots at the same time over SSH and SFTP Protocol. For stand-alone deployments, BlueGate is also equipped with a DHCP Server for easily locating and managing Bluetooth Hotspots.

mobileFX BlueGate organizes Proximity Marketing into manageable entities such as Campaigns and Hotspots. Each Campaign consists of PUSH and PULL content and can be scheduled to run on any number of Hotspots. All those manageable entities are stored in a DataBase that you can easily backup and restore or transfer to another computer.

With mobileFX BlueGate you will get a vast array of Productivity Features; for example you can copy-and-paste Proximity Marketing Campaigns from one Hotspot to another and you can drag-and-copy files and configurations from a Hotspot to another, but above all you will get reliable Statistical Reports of your campaigns that you can print-out or export to EXCEL, HTML or XML.

		1. With Digital Signage, Printed and Window Banners or Below Line activities, consumers are called to enable Bluetooth on their mobile phone.

		2. Within seconds, an opt-in message requesting permission for transmitting Bluetooth content appears on the screen of the consumer's mobile phone.

		3. If and only if the consumer accepts the transmission, the content is downloaded onto his/her mobile phone and the process is completed in a few seconds.

	Is Proximity Marketing Legal?
	In most European countries Proximity Marketing is legal as long as the Consumer is presented with the choice to reject the marketing content. This is called Opt-In and most Bluetooth Cell manufacturers implement it at Hardware level.

	What are the Anti-Spam Features?
	Anti-Spam features are considered those Hardware and Proximity Marketing Campaign features that take into account and respect Consumer decisions rejecting the marketing content. An important Anti-Spam feature is logging the Bluetooth Address of a Mobile Device that rejected the content and not attempting to transmit content to this device any further. This is called the Block List.
	What is Device Discovery?
	Device Discovery is the process of discovering Bluetooth-enabled Mobile Devices by Bluetooth Cells and identifying their hardware and software capabilities in order to transmit to them appropriate Mobile Content. This is a feature of Bluetooth Cells and it is extremely vital and important for the success of a Proximity Marketing Campaign because it ensures that the right content is delivered to the right device.

	What is Fallback Content?
	Fallback Content is the content being transmitted to devices that cannot be identified by Device Discovery protocols and processes of a Bluetooth Cell. In a nutshell, Fallback Content must be able to load on any Mobile Device and such content are usually JPG image files.

	What are OBEX Menus and Incremental Content Download?
	OBEX Menus are Java applications (MIDlets) that are sent to Consumers over Bluetooth and when they run on a Mobile Device they present a Content Catalogue of files that are available on the Bluetooth Cells; such catalogues can be long lists of MP3 files, 3GP files, etc. The idea is that the Consumer can select the content file he / she wishes to download on his / her Mobile Phone over Bluetooth from the Bluetooth Cell. The process of downloading content from an OBEX Menu is called Incremental Content Download.

	What is Bluetime?
	Bluetime is the accumulative time of transmission of a content file by a Bluetooth Cell.

	How can I measure the Success of a Proximity Marketing Campaign?
	In a Proximity Marketing campaigns there are three (3) variables that are used for measuring success: the number of devices discovered, the number of devices downloaded the content and the number of devices rejected the content. With mobileFX BlueGate or mobileFX BlueSign those variables are monitored per campaign per day.

	Can I remotely administer and configure Bluetooth Cells?
	With mobileFX BlueGate or mobileFX BlueSign you can remotely administer and configure Bluetooth Cells as long as they are on the same LAN. Direct TCP/IP access on ports 80, 21, 23 and 9990 is required.
